Overworked, tired, and ready for change?
April 4, 2008
It’s almost the weekend. As a physician who has likely put in 50-plus hours this week, the weekend (or your next day off if you work weekends) could not come any sooner. Whatever the case, if you are a doctor working in an office or hospital setting, it is likely you are feeling the pressure. On average, primary care physicians of today in the United States are encouraged to turn over a patient every 8 to 12 minutes. This includes the time needed to assess the patient’s history, a physical, and the examination itself.
The medical community has taken advantage of physicians by subjecting them to work weeks consisting of up to 100 hours with frequent 36-hour shifts. This leaves the average physician with virtually no free time for recuperation and relaxation. Studies have shown that medical residents experience higher rates of depression, car accidents, and pregnancy complications. Not to mention, patient care seriously suffers as worn, overworked physicians are less able to perform complicated procedures and more likely to suffer memory loss and impaired judgment.
So What are Physicians to Do?
Consider this – by moving out of the office or hospital and starting your own medical house call practice, physicians will have more free time, achieving the ability to work part time and still manage to earn a full-time income.
With medical house calls physicians are granted the luxury of more free time due to lower overhead expenses and higher reimbursement rates. Instead of having to see 25 to 35-plus patients per day just to pay expenses, you will see 8 to 12 patients per day to net $150-$200k per year.
Are you ready for that free time you deserve as a hardworking physician? Look into the low cost business opportunity that involves starting your own niche medical practice – the medical house call practice. Physician opportunities have never looked brighter.
